Providing companies with the support to develop global markets, Overseas Market Support (OMS) aims to provide Scottish based business with extensive knowledge about overseas opportunities.

Specifically, OMS can help assess market potential, assist in promoting to an overseas audience, identify potential business partners and provide extensive market reports.

Eligible companies should:

  • Be Scotland- based businesses looking to expand into new global markets.
  • Have a turnover of £400,000 or more.

Description and how it can help

Overseas Market Support (OMS) provides Scotland-based business with customised support to develop new markets internationally.

The services of OMS include:

  • Providing extensive knowledge about overseas markets and opportunities.
  • Market reports and information covering market size, structure, tariffs, regulations & business culture.
  • Identification of potential business contacts & partners.
  • Support to develop programme of meetings to assess market potential.
  • Design of promotional material to support an overseas market.

Any costs included

Up to 50 per cent of eligible costs can be covered, where funding is provided.

Any partners or partnership working involved

OMS is managed by Scottish Development International, funded by Scottish Enterprise and The Scottish Government.

UKTI & EES support this service.

Duration of the service

Support follows a company’s international strategic plan, as agreed with SDI. Normally this can last up to 12 months.
