International exhibitions offer excellent opportunities for companies looking to trade overseas. The international exhibitions, missions and learning journeys initiative from SDI can help companies network with overseas buyers and prospective business partners.

Joining an outward mission or learning journey is a proactive way for businesses to exploit a marketing opportunity and gauge response in global markets.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the programme, companies should have:

  • A turnover of £400,000 or more.
  • Developed an international growth strategy to support the project.

Description and how it can help

Scottish Development International organises group stands at key international exhibitions, and run sector-based overseas missions and learning journeys.

These events provide companies with the opportunity to:

  • Research and test the market.
  • Make personal introductions to new business partners, overseas buyers, agents or distributors.
  • Promote the business.

Any costs included

Subsidies may be offered to companies participating in an exhibition, mission or learning journey with Scottish Development International.

Exhibitions costs

During 2009, 20 per cent of the cost must be paid prior to the exhibition, with the remaining 80 per cent being paid up to six months after the exhibition.

Any partners or partnership working involved

This product is managed by Scottish Development International - funded by Scottish Enterprise and the Scottish Government.

Duration of the service

Preparation and support is provided prior to and including the event.
